COMELEC own building to rise in Pasay City

By:  Mac Ramirez

As part of Commission on Elections Strategic Plan 2011-2016 (COMSTRAT1116), the Honorable Chairman Sixto S. Brillantes Jr. Will lead today the signing of the contract to sell and the groundbreaking ceremony for the lot where the COMELEC’s own Main Office Building will be constructed.

The 20,160 square-meter lot is located at the Central Business Park 1-A, Bay City in Pasay City.

According to Engr. Julio Thaddeus Hernan, Director IV of the COMELEC’s Administrative Services Department, the proposed COMELEC Main Office Building will likely be composed of three (3) structures that shall include a seven (7) storey COMELEC Administrative Building, housing all Offices and Departments, the Offices of the COMELEC National Capital Region, and Region IV, a multi-purpose building that may also be used for storage; and a conference hall and dormitory for COMELEC field personnel.

Hernan disclosed that after surveying possible sites, the lot along the bay area was chosen based on its cost and its accessibility to airports and seaports.  Hernan emphasized that the chosen site would also be beneficial to a significant number of COMELEC main office employees as it would shorten their commute from home to work.

Hernan sees the completion of the COMELEC Main Office Building in two (2) year’s time as enshrined in COMSTRAT Pillar 10 which vows to “construct COMELEC’s own main office building and field offices for improved morale, efficiency and independence,” before 2016.
