COMELEC sets three days only for filing of certificates of candidacy for barangay and SK polls

The Commission on Elections sets barely three (3) days for candidates to file their respective certificates of candidacy (COC) for the forthcoming synchronized village and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in October 28, 2013.

In a resolution promulgated on June 18, 2013, the COMELEC en banc sets October 15 to 17, 2013 as the inclusive dates for  both the youth and the barangay candidates to each submit, at the local COMELEC field offices, a duly accomplished form announcing their respective candidacies.

Resolution No. 9715, "Calendar of Activities and Periods of Certain Prohibited Acts in connection with the October 28, 2013 Synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Election," likewise schedules Monday, August 12, 2013, for the Election Registration Board (ERB) to either approve or disapprove the numerous applications filed until 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2013.

We saw hundreds, if not thousands, of late registrants scampering for space just to be accommodated by the COMELEC personnel before the clock strikes the registration deadline.  Many have been hurt in the process.

In order to avoid the repeat of the discomforting rush, we publish here the said CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES.
